As we are all learning to live with COVID and witnessing the remarkable citizen protests asking us all to speak out against systemic racism, I found myself feeling helpless at home. At first, I looked into sewing masks for health care workers, but I didn’t have the supplies they needed. I am in awe of the sewers around the country who stepped up to do that in such large numbers.
In April, I began making masks for friends and family. My son and daughter-in-law work with the public, so I sent them several versions – even a shield! I finally came up with a style that people reported are very comfortable. After giving away about 100 masks over two months, and at the urging of friends of Poppets, I am now selling masks for $10 each. By now, most people have masks for everyday. The masks I am selling are custom made after you select the fabric. You can coordinate them with every outfit – LOL. Check out our Custom Shop page if you’d like to see fabric choices. Hopefully, you are wearing a mask when you go out and about or unable to maintain a 6 feet distance. Protect each other.
